What can your Library offer you?

• Our popular Talking Book Service provides over 15,000 audio books
• There are loads of braille, giant and large print and Moon books to choose from
• A wide range of braille music scores including vocal and instrumental scores from classical pieces and opera to popular music and jazz
• Access online reference services such as newspapers, dictionaries and reference books
• Visit the Research Library for information about research into sight loss.

Anyone who wants to read books in alternative formats can join the library contact us on 0845 762 6843 or 01733 37 53 50, or email cservices@rnib.org.uk to find out more or download a form here:

Some callers may find it cheaper to call a landline, so we have detailed both 08 prefixed numbers and landline equivalents.

Choosing books

• Books for leisure and study are available for all ages. To help you choose books our librarians can offer advice and provide book lists to give you ideas
• Search for books in alternative formats on the Library Catalogue
• If you're a Talking Book user try the Talking Book Catalogue

New Reader's Forum

Talk with others about books on the new RNIB Reader's forum. Just go to the board and register to join in or simply browse the messages.

We aim to provide a space for you to express yourself on all things reading related. The Reader Services team will be working hard to create a lively environment for discussion. Your comments and views are welcomed, especially if you have never posted a message to the forums before.

Read On magazine

In Read On we will tell you about the services and books on offer and we’ll also bring you information about events and exciting new developments. The magazine is sent out to all Library users, you can also download a copy here:

New Books magazine is an update of all new book titles available for loan and sale from RNIB, designed to make it easy for you to choose the books you want to read. New Books is sent to all Library users and is also available to browse online or you can download it here:

NLB website

If you were used to the now closed NLB website, you might be feeling a bit lost. Here is some useful information for users of the old NLB website.

Right to read

RNIB believes that people with sight problems should be able to read the same book as everyone else, at the same time and at no extra cost. Find out more about your right to read.

The Copyright (Visually Impaired Persons) Act 2002 means that people with sight problems can get an accessible copy of a book for their own use without having to apply for permission.
