How Paul was helped
Paul is registered blind due to high myopia and haemorrhage damage to his left eye. Paul was referred to RNIB through the Here to HELP programme. We helped to get his Disability Living Allowance (DLA) care component increased from the low rate to the middle rate. The increase in his DLA led to an increase in his Pension Credit, so overall he is better off now by £77 a week.
Paul says
"The extra DLA has made a big difference, it's good I'm now getting what I'm entitled to. I can get taxis now so I can go out to meet my friends. I can put the heating on which I didn't always do before. It means I don't have to sit in a cold house now."
Here to HELP also provided Paul with a cordless telephone with large black buttons and a talking clock."The phone makes a big difference, the numbers are easy to see and I can move round the house with it which is very convenient."
