Adobe Digital Editions is an eBook reader that allows you to access books from many publishers and libraries, including books protected with the Adept DRM.
Until the end of September, the version of Adobe Digital Editions most commonly used was 1.7, which had no accessibility at all. Towards the end of 2011, Adobe released a preview of the next version, which included lots of accessibility features, such as support for various colour schemes and screen readers.
Most people didn't know about the preview version unless they looked at
RNIB's eBook pages.
Now the preview has been released as
Adobe Digital Editions 2.0. There are no accessibility changes since the preview, other than NVDA losing the ability to read continuously for more than a page. But now there is a single current version of the software, so when a library or website links to a download of Digital Editions, they will be linking to an accessible version of software that blind and partially sighted people can use.

If you use the software, we'd love to hear what you think about it. Please comment on this blog entry or email
