Tube Exits does exactly what it says on the tin. It helps get you to the tube exit as quickly as possible. Sounds simple right? Well it is so that's why it's our App of the Month for July! Tube Exits can shave minutes off your journey by helping you avoid the crowds and long platform walks. The app developers estimate you can save around 10 minutes on an average journey during peak hours travel. Impressive!
Tube Exits helps you save time on your tube journeys by telling you exactly which carriage to board so you arrive right by your platform exit. Tube Exits will also tell you which side of the carriage you'll be getting off. The great thing about Tube Exits is that it works anywhere and everywhere, even underground on the tube. No signal required! Tube Exits covers every station on the London Underground, Docklands Light Railway and East London Overground (Zones 1-9). If you have a journey you make regularly, you can save it as a favourite right in the Tube Exits app.
Lynn Holdsworth who uses VoiceOver on her iPhone is a regular Tube Exits user. She told us:
"It's a cracking app for anyone who's blind or partially sighted. Basically, it'll tell you which tube carriage to get on so you can get off right by the exit and whether you'll be getting off from the same or the opposite door. I'm finding it very useful indeed."
We want to hear from you, our users. Which apps and websites should we be writing about on the TechKnowMore blog? Is there an app you can no longer live without? What website is at the top of your favourites list? Drop us an email on DigitalAccess@rnib.org.uk to let us know, and your favourite service could be featured in the very near future!
