The recent Internet Explorer 9 update caused problems for many magnification users, because the advanced smoothing of Supernova (TrueFont) and ZoomText (xFont) does not work with it. The result of this is that at even quite small levels of magnification text can be difficult to read, and the problem gets worse as magnification increases.
Supernova's new update (version 12.04, released on 12 July) addresses this problem so that Supernova magnification users can once again expect smooth text at all levels of magnification.
The original problem was due to a new technology that Microsoft are using for rendering text and graphics on screen. It's called Direct 2D, and Microsoft will be using it in more and more new software.
Supernova 12.04 is a free update for all version 12 users, and can be downloaded from the Help menu within Supernova or from www.yourdolphin.co.uk. As well as updating to this version, you need to change a setting in Internet Explorer: go to Tools > Internet Options, and on the Advanced page, check "Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering".
