Let's run through how you can create a small signature file (actually a .TIFF image) that can then be included in forms:
-
On a blank sheet of paper, write a signature near the top left corner of the sheet. (The position is important as this is where K1000 expects your signature to be on the scanner.)
-
Put the paper on the scanner so that the left corner containing your signature is tucked into the bottom left corner of your scanner. (Normally this corner is indicated by an arrow or similar that you can feel.)
-
Close the lid of the scanner and ensure that any existing files open in K1000 are closed down. When they have been closed, access the Scan menu and choose the Create a Signature file.
-
A message box will appear, asking you to check the positioning and format of the paper to be scanned. When you are happy that everything is OK, press the Enter key to start the scan.
-
Another message box will appear with the image of your signature. (You may want to get some sighted assistance here to ensure that it looks okay.) Either way, you can agree this or cancel it using the appropriate buttons.
-
If you agree that the scan of the signature is fine then you will be asked for a title so that you can distinguish it from other signature files you may have. When you have confirmed this title using the Enter key the signature will be created.
-
To insert the signature, create a new empty file in K1000 by pressing Control N. Now open the Edit menu and arrow up to the insert a Signature option and press the Enter key. In the list view choose the appropriate signature and press Enter to confirm. The image is now placed at the cursor position in the edit window - how cool is that?
