Changing your Kurzweil1000 greeting

Post details

Did you know that you can change the greeting message in K1000 when you launch it? Here goes:

  1. Access the Settings menu and press Enter on the Verbosity item.
  2. Focus will be on the Event combo box and you will hear the message: "to modify the system response for starting Kurzweil 1000 press Tab." If you do not then use the arrow keys to make sure that Starting Kurzweil 1000 is the selected option.
  3. When you tab to the next control you have the choice of selecting either message or chime - for our purposes, make sure that the Message option is selected and Tab onwards.
  4. The next edit field contains the text message that will be spoken so you can adjust or remove everything in here and input your own. (My message goes like this: "What? You want me to crash? I'll try my best!" I'm sure you can come up with something better than this!)
  5. After you have created a masterpiece of a greeting, press the Tab key to move to the OK button and press Spacebar to confirm.
  6. Now close down Kurzweil 1000 and restart it to test out your new message!

Now have a bash at creating a suitably witty farewell message using the same dialog box, just change the option in step 2.
