New Technology for 2012

Post details

Kindle Fire

This seven inch tablet computer is rumoured to go on sale in the UK in January. With a colour screen and a cheaper price point, many think it will be a serious challenger to the iPad's crown. Although only $199 in the US, when launched in the UK, the price is expected to be around £180-£200. When the Kindle Fire is released in the UK, we'll be reviewing it for accessibility, so watch out for more from us on this coming soon.

Kobo eReader

The Kobo eReader arrived in the UK in WHSmith stores. Two versions are available, a non touch screen version and a touch screen version. ASDA stores now also sell these devices slightly cheaper than WHSmith. When we have a review of the Kobo and any accessibility features, we'll post them here.

Google Tablet Rumour

It's rumoured that there will be a Google Tablet out in the future which will be running the Google Chrome Operating System rather than the Google Android Operating System. You'll be able to download eBooks from the Google ebookstore. If this rumour materialises, we'll be sure to post more information here.
