Are you a mobile app developer or blind or partially sighted smartphone user?

Then don't miss out on RNIB's Accessibility Hackathon event which is happening this weekend, 11th February 2012 at the Skills Matter venue in Clerkenwell, London.

For those of you unfamiliar with the term "Hackathon", it is defined on Wikipedia as "an event when programmers meet to do collaborative computer programming. The spirit of a hackathon is to collaboratively build programs and applications."

The event is open to Android, iOS and HTML5 developers but will be useful for anyone who is interested in making accessible apps for any mainstream platform. It's an opportunity to find out more about the importance of accessible apps for blind and partially sighted people and to work with others to really make a difference in the app market. You'll also have the opportunity to talk to blind and partially sighted users to find out what really matters to them when it comes to mobile apps.

We want to encourage innovation and push the boundaries of app development, building in accessibility along the way. So join us for the day and into the night for what promises to be a great event!

Thank you very much to BlueVia who have kindly sponsored this event. BlueVia offer a whole range of APIs for developers. The Bluevia APIs make it easy for your application to access BlueVia's network services like sending messages, getting an Ad, or looking up information about the person using your app, in real time.

To find out more, see a schedule for the event and register your interest in attending, please visit the Meetup website.
