Sight loss support programmes

Finding Your Feet support programmes are designed to help you deal with both the practical and emotional challenges of sight loss.

Finding your feet

No matter how long you have been experiencing sight loss, share challenges and solutions with others and explore ways to achieve the best possible quality of life.

To learn about the Finding Your Feet programme from people who have attended and presented, including discussion of the course by a health commissioner, take a look at the Finding your Feet video (please note this video contains emotional content):

The focus of this programme is very much around confidence-building and ways to maintain health and wellbeing. Finding Your Feet may also benefit you if you were born with no sight or have grown up with sight loss from a young age.

This programme will provide you with:

  • updates on benefits, changes in welfare systems and your legal rights
  • information about the latest products, gadgets and computer technology to make your life easier
  • a chance to explore barriers to getting out and about
  • opportunities to spend time with people in a similar situation
  • a way to finding out how others cope, sharing experiences and solutions.

Your spouse, partner, family member or a friend is very welcome to come along. The programme provides an opportunity for those with caring responsibilities to gain support from each other.

Programmes are delivered in various locations across England in association with local sight loss charities. Fees vary depending on location and if you wish to stay overnight in a hotel.
