Sight loss support programmes

Finding Your Feet support programmes are designed to help you deal with both the practical and emotional challenges of sight loss.

Finding Your Feet currently offers two programmes of support:

Finding your feet - striding out

Striding Out - no matter how long you have been experiencing sight loss, share challenges and solutions with others and explore ways to achieve the best possible quality of life.

To learn about the Finding Your Feet Striding Out programme from people who have attended and presented including discussion of the course by a health commissioner, take a look at the Finding your Feet video (please note this video contains emotional content):

Finding your feet - steps into work

Steps Into Work - if you are thinking of moving back to work, or getting a job for the first time.

In each programme, you will:

  • meet and spend time with people in a similar situation
  • take part in informative workshops and discussion sessions
  • learn about practical solutions to help manage everyday tasks
  • have the opportunity to talk through your feelings and the emotional aspects of sight loss.

The programmes are delivered by people experienced in sight loss, some of whom are blind or partially sighted. They take place in a comfortable and supportive setting. Some run over a weekend, others during the week.
