Getting into football
I've been playing football since I was 4 and I started playing in tournaments when I was at school. When I went to Royal National College (RNC) in 1998 I joined the team and started playing in competitions. The RNC football coach is also the coach of the English blind football squad and he selected me for the team.
World championships
We play five-a-side, in a diamond formation. The team is made up of four blind players and a sighted goalkeeper. The ball is size 3 which is smaller than a normal size 5 one. It has metal panels under the leather and lead shots inside so you can hear it.
We've been to the World Championships in South Korea to take on teams like Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. There's a great team spirit and the standard is really high.
At home
RNC has a proper international pitch so the squad trains and practices there a few times a week. There's also the UK club league, which holds matches once a month during the footie season.
In between, I find the time to support the mighty Liverpool! I am a season ticket holder and Anfield is a great venue - I can sit anywhere in the ground as they provide headsets with a spoken match commentary.
Get involved…
It would be great if more people could get involved. At the moment we only have four club teams in the UK while Spain has 80 and Brazil has over 600.
There are 12 of us in the national squad and we are always looking for new talent. Try and play as much as you can when you are at school.
