Trip to Liverpool FC

If you've got a sight problem, you can get cheaper tickets for some football matches and other sports events. Some clubs also encourage blind and partially sighted players to get involved.

Andrew and David went with a group to find out what Liverpool Football Club does for blind and partially sighted players and fans. They told us about the trip, which was organised by Dave Kelly from RNIB.

What sports do you play?

Andrew: I don't play sports at the moment. I used to do football tournaments with my school, but I don't have the opportunity to play now.

David: I used to do other sports when I was at school. I did football and I was in the school team. I did basketball, hockey, PE and was in the swimming gala. I would like to do more sports now and I am hoping to do some with Dave from RNIB.

How was the trip to Liverpool FC?

Andrew: The trip was marvellous. We were taken to the executive box which was well sorted out. They told us about playing in the football league for partially sighted and blind people which was interesting. I hadn't heard about that before and I was very tempted to try it.

I had my photograph taken with the European Cup. They're going to send me a copy of the photograph. The whole trip was interesting, including going round the dressing rooms.

David: I liked seeing the trophies. It was great to have my photograph taken with the European Cup. I learnt it was a lot of money to get a corporate box, and how the pitch is one of the smallest which surprised me. I know I can get a reduced ticket which I didn't know before. I touched the "This is Anfield" sign!

What did you think of Dave?

Andrew: Dave was brilliant! He made us laugh and joke. He's a case and I'm looking forward to playing the league with him.

David: Dave was funny. He told lots of jokes. I listened and watched Dave and I learnt how to help people.
