Meet Small Things Writer

I decided I wanted to write a blog for RNIB because I am passionate about my independence and am a proactive supporter of the rights of visually impaired and blind people. I myself am visually impaired and aged 23.

In June this year I will be graduating from university with a BA in French. I have always been fascinated by languages, and have spent time studying Spanish and German also, so language study at university was a natural choice for me.

I am very logical and so alongside my degree for the past year I have been working part time as an accounts assistant for a local charity, which is invaluable experience regardless as to what my career path ends up being.

I have many interests; fashion, I love my clothes and it is important to me to feel good in what I am wearing. I exercise regularly, my local gym is great. I love being outdoors as well so I applied for a guide dog last year and am now on the waiting list, which I hope won't be too much longer, this will make a huge difference to my ability to travel and go places more freely, especially at night.

I live by the sea with my partner, he is so supportive to me and we work together to make sure we make life an adventure, because there's no point in sitting still when you don't have to!
