On the 1 September 2012, I'll be moving into my own flat in Norwich, Norfolk. The flat is situated in the Norfolk and Norwich Association for the Blind premises, so it means there are several benefits to living there.
The association is part of a charity that has helped many blind and partially sighted people in the Norfolk and Suffolk area and continues to do a fine job today. Thanks to donations from the public and fundraising events they are able to provide several daily activities as well as a high standard equipment centre.
Not surprisingly I have mixed emotions about living completely independently but generally I'm looking forward to it.
I'm originally from Derbyshire so naturally I'm a city girl and used to the hustle and bustle of people and the general city environment. So I'm looking forward to not having to worry about travelling the hour and a half bus journey to and from home to attend a day activity, because I'm going to be practically in the centre of things, both within the building and the city centre.
I think it would be good if people shared their experiences of moving out and so we can support each other in terms of giving advice etc.
