Living and learning

Having a sight problem shouldn't be a barrier to learning. We work to ensure that blind and partially sighted children and adults gain get the best out of school and college.

Parents and carers

Our living and learning section can help support you and your child's school journey from early years to primary, to secondary level education and beyond. If your child has a sight problem and additional needs read our dedicated information on supporting children with complex needs.

RNIB Sunshine House School and RNIB Pears Centre for Specialist Learning (formerly Rushton School and Children's Home) offer specialist provision for children with sight loss and we also run a college of Further Education.

Visit Special schools and colleges in the UK to explore other options for you or your child.

Adult learners

Our adult learning information can help you get the most out of learning whatever your age and can support you if you to learn new skills after sight loss.

If you are already in further or higher education or planning your next step after school, visit our student site.

Outstanding Ofsted success!

In the space of eight days in November 2011, three of our residential services for children and young people received 'Outstanding' grades following full inspections from Ofsted. These fantastic achievements at RNIB Sunshine House Children's Home, RNIB Pears Centre Children's Home and The Stan Bell Centre at RNIB College Loughborough demonstrate our continued commitment to delivering exemplary services for children and young people with complex needs.
