Vocational Qualifications

There are a wide range of vocational qualifications available that are often a popular choice for people who wish to have a qualification directly related to their job.

  • NVQ stands for National Vocational Qualification - these qualifications can help you learn and demonstrate the skills you need for a particular type of job or subject.
  • GNVQ qualifications are similar to NVQs but are aimed at 16-19-year-olds, although they are available to those who are older. If you'd like to study for a GNVQ, contact your local Learning and Skills Council.
  • BTEC offer National Certificates and Diplomas an HND or HNC, a Higher National Diploma or Certificate is normally a two-year course taken at a Higher Education Institution. To find out more contact Edexcel on 0870 240 9800.

  • City and Guilds offer vocational qualifications in a wide range of subjects.
