RNIB Community Living Service

We provide specialist support and innovative activities, work experience and rehabilitation services, 52 weeks residential care and supported living for young adults with sight loss, multiple disabilities and complex needs.

We cater for adults from 18 up to the age of 40 all of whom are unique with a wide range of strengths and personalities. We are fortunate to be based on a 17 acre site, and throughout the town of Redhill, Surrey.

Quality care

  • Our Care Quality Commission inspection grades are all "good" or "excellent" and we aim to have all services graded as "excellent" by 2012.
  • In October 2009 we were awarded the RNIB Visibly Better award through providing an accessible environment, trained staff and accessible communications for people who use our services.
  • We gained the Investors in People Bronze award due to our commitment to staff and service development and quality.

History

RNIB Community Living Service used to be a section of RNIB Redhill College, established in September 1957. The college closed in August 2007 but the residential care and facilitation programme remained, and it has developed into the current service.

Residential care

Our residential care facilities are arranged in units of six people and we can accommodate 24 residential care placements.

Supported living

We have 20 supported living flats, or shared house placements, on the site and around the town.

Additional facilities

We have a "Hub" which has a wide range of facilities and specialist equipment. This includes a fully adapted Fitness Centre and exercise pool and a 12 foot TV with audio, music and drama provision in a custom built centre. We also have a well equipped resource room.
