Key stage classroom
The key stage classroom is a suitable environment for students to learn. These spaces can also be used for quiet specialised learning and support with adequate storage which is essential for a safe environment. Each room will have built in wall mounted moveable computer screens, have slow closing doors and hinge protectors along with classroom clues-sensors (audio).
Cost: £150,000
Music rooms
A purpose built music room with appropriate acoustics and with safe equipment storage is the ideal setting for group work. Many of our young people have communication difficulties. Music provides an excellent way for the young people to express thoughts and emotions, develop their communication skills and creative ideas.
Experience has shown that our young people respond extremely well to music: rhythm, beat and song. They enjoy performing, composing and listening, not just individually but also within a group situation.
Cost: £75,000
The soundproof music room is purpose-built offering a calm, distraction-free environment. This will support our students as they develop their musical skills.
Cost: £30,000
Art room
This space will provide a safe environment for young people to be creative. It is suitable for storage of art and craft materials, has suitable drying facilities for finished items and will house specialist equipment for specific art and craft work.
Science room
The science room will be suitably designed and equipped for young people to explore scientific phenomena. Storage facilities will mean that equipment is readily at hand and floor coverings will be easy to clean. There will be appropriate fixtures and fittings to allow full participation of all the young people with the activities.
Sixth form centre
The sixth form centre is a large environment suitable for the students to learn and develop in preparation for moving on to adult placement. A common room/chill out space enables students to socialise and promotes independence.
The kitchen area allows the students to prepare their own meals. There will be high/low rise work space and sinks along with suitable floor coverings to help with sensory navigation.
The sixth form centre will have its own toilet area and well equipped media centre. It will benefit from its own outdoor area with an allotment area used as part of their EQUALS "Moving On" curriculum. A computer suite will be available to assist in meeting the ICT requirements of the curriculum.
School hall
This dual purpose space will be used as a school hall and for physical education (with some fixed gym equipment). The School Hall will be used for events, media productions, and as a function room. With a special stage area, lighting, projectors and automatic blinds this will become a special media production space.
