March 2011
On 3 March 2011, we celebrated moving into the new Reception Building at RNIB Rushton School and Children's Home (now known as RNIB Pears Centre for Specialist Learning).
This facility houses our care, therapies and facilities teams. It also offers:
-
an assessment suite, where young people can be assessed before placement to ensure we can meet their needs
-
short stay accommodation for parents and families visiting their son or daughter
-
consulting rooms, to allow all young people to be seen by their consultants and other specialists
-
a nursing and treatment room
-
a training room.
New bungalows and school
During March, five bungalows are being fitted out and personalised ready for young people to move into their new homes in April. Intensive work to the new school continues and we expect to move in during the summer after snagging and fit out work is carried out.
When complete, these new purpose-built facilities will enable RNIB to provide individually-tailored care, education and therapies to more young people, maximising their potential for learning, independence and fulfilment.
