National Braille Week 2011

Robert Rankin participating in Braille Week

This celebration of all things braille runs from 4 to 10 January each year. The campaign, led by Royal Blind, aims to raise awareness of braille and how it is used in the UK. RNIB National Library Service provides over 25,000 titles in uncontracted (Grade 1) and contracted (Grade 2) braille and we are a vital source of books for people who rely on braille for their leisure reading.

We also have a range of books and practice materials for adults who are learning braille or want to refresh their touch reading skills. These include Quick Reads - bite-sized books by best-selling authors - which particularly useful for braille readers who are building up their confidence and find the prospect of a long book daunting. Find out what happened this year at the National Braille Week website

More info on Quick Reads can be found at the Quick Reads website
