Costa Book Awards

The winners of the Costa Book awards were announced on 5 January. The overall winner was announced on 25 January at a ceremony in London.

Previously known as the Whitbread Literary Awards, the Costa Book Awards is one of the top literary prizes in the UK and Ireland.

Unfortunately RNIB only has one of the winners in accessible format so far but we should be producing them soon (to be confirmed) please let us know if you want to read any of them:

  • Book of the year: Of mutability by Jo Shapcott not available from RNIB (but we have Emergency kit by Jo Shapcott in braille)

  • Novel award: The hand that first held mine by Maggie O'Farrell - DAISY (plus other novels in various formats)
  • First novel award: Witness the night by Kishwar Desai not available from RNIB
  • Biography award: The Hare with amber eyes by Edmund de Waal not available from RNIB
