Some of our Talking Book readers have expressed concern about the new CD envelopes we are using to send out Talking Books so we would like to explain the reasons behind this change.
The removal of the clear film over the window area in the new CD wallets is saving RNIB a lot of money. They are 3p cheaper and we send out 1.8m each year so are making a significant saving. It also makes the wallets environmentally friendly as they are now fully recyclable.
The wallets were tested rigorously to make sure there was no risk of damage caused by abrasion or water during postal delivery before being introduced. If you do experience any problems, please let the Helpline know as this will be monitored closely.
