Memory sticks on DAISY player

A memory stick

We know that some talking book readers have been experiencing difficulties playing content from memory sticks (also known as USB sticks or flash drives) on their PTX1 DAISY players. We have investigated the problem and now have a new piece of software designed to fix it.

If you would like to use the USB socket on your PTX1, but the player will not recognise the memory stick, please contact our Helpline on 0303 123 9999 or email library@rnib.org.uk with your name and address details.

We will send you a CD to upgrade the software on your player automatically:

  • You will hear a short introductory message when you insert the CD and then the upgrade will begin.
  • Please ensure your player is plugged into the mains during this process.
  • Once the upgrade is complete, please dispose of the CD - there is no need to return it to RNIB.

Some PTX1 players are currently playing memory sticks without any problems. In this case, or if you do not want to use memory sticks, you do not need to upgrade your machine. If you have a Plextalk PTN1 or a Victor player, you do not need to take any action.
