Help us test ebook services in public libraries

Kindle ebook reader

We will be testing the accessibility of ebook services in public libraries this summer, working with library staff across the country to help improve what they offer. Around 50 UK library authorities now provide ebooks for download (audio and/or text) and the number is steadily growing. We want to build up a picture of how easy or difficult it is to access and use these services if you are blind or partially sighted.

If you would like to help test ebook services in your area, please get in touch. We will either link you up with a library participating in the project, or you can visit or contact your local library to find out what services and support they offer and feedback to us.

To register your interest, please email una.regan@rnib.org.uk or telephone Una on 0161 355 2079.

This project is being run during Make a Noise in Libraries Fortnight 2011 (MANIL), which will run from 6 to 19 June. MANIL is our annual campaign to bring libraries and blind and partially sighted people together to improve access to books and information. If ebooks are not your cup of tea, why not go along to one of the many MANIL events being organised by libraries all over the country. Past activities have included open days, author talks, reading groups, book displays, storytelling, drumming workshops and much more.
