More books, more choice

A stack of books

Last year, RNIB National Library Service sent 1.5 million books in audio, braille and giant print to over 41,000 readers across the UK. That's 6,000 Talking Books and 1250 braille and giant print volumes received and despatched every day. Figures for 2011-12 also show that:

  • 2586 new braille, audio and giant print titles were added to the Library, increasing the number of books available.
  • You can now choose from 25,310 braille titles, 3,500 giant print titles and 20,000 Talking Books, making it the largest library in the UK for blind and partially sighted people.
Support for readers is also important. During the year, our Reader Services Team handled 18,958 enquiries, ranging from book queries and title suggestions to requests for help with choosing books and using the online catalogue. We hope you get a lot of pleasure from our service and we welcome suggestions and feedback to help us improve what we offer. Contact us - telephone 0303 123 9999, email library@rnib.org.uk
