World Book Night 2013 giveaway

World Book Night 2013

Hundreds of people will be lucky enough to receive a free audio book as part of a giveaway by RNIB to mark World Book Night on 23 April. Will you be one of them?

World Book Night was launched in 2011 to give one million books away to light or non-readers and RNIB National Library Service has joined in for the second year running.

A group of volunteers are giving away audio titles in all sorts of different places including train stations, braille classes, social groups, book groups, schools and the library.

In doing this, they are not only sharing a great book with others but they are also helping RNIB promote the importance of accessible reading for people with sight loss.

Research by RNIB shows that there is a severe lack of reading material available to people with sight loss, as just 7 per cent of all books are available in fully accessible formats to blind and partially sighted people.

If you have received a free audio book from RNIB, please email wbn@rnib.org.uk, letting us know where you received the book and what you think of it.

The free audio book titles that will be given away are:

  • Sebastian Barry, The Secret Scripture
  • Malorie Blackman, Noughts and Crosses
  • Tracy Chevalier, The Girl with the Pearl Earring
  • Jasper Fforde, The Eyre Affair
  • Ian Fleming, Casino Royale
  • Philippa Gregory, The White Queen
  • Sophie Hannah, Little Face
  • Victoria Hislop, The Island
  • Jackie Kay , Red Dust Road
