Marmite books - The Time Traveler's Wife

A jar of Marmite

Have you ever read a book that someone else has absolutely raved about and thought "what were they thinking!"? Here is your chance to vent.

Deb Ryan editor of Read On shared her "marmite" book with us.

Mine was Audrey Niffenegger's The Time Traveler's Wife (I even found the spelling in the title annoying). I'd heard all the hype around this book and then a couple of people raved about it to me so I thought I'd give it a go. I liked the idea of the time travel concept but boy that wasn't enough compensation for how irritating I found the characters. All that flicking backwards and forwards to follow the plot, admittedly I probably dipped in and out of the book but that tells you something anyway doesn't it? In fact I gave up about a third of the way through - and I will never get that time back!

What book would I recommend? Miss Pettigrew lives for day by Winifred Watson. I dare you not to like this charming, quirky read!
