Marmite book - The Help

A jar of Marmite

Well the last marmite book featured, Fifty Shades of Grey, got a few comments! This time Alison May nominates The Help (TB 17729; braille 9v; giant print 5v) as her "love it" book:

"The Help by Kathryn Stockett; the best read of the year! Kept me up till 5.30 a.m.!"

"Superbly read by three readers, each taking the part of one of the main characters telling the story of black maids in Jackson, Mississippi during the year that Martin Luther King and John F. Kennedy were assassinated. "

"It's funny; it's touching, but most of all, it is thought-provoking!"

Do thrillers leave you tingly? Romances make your heart flutter? Or do sea stories leave you feeling slightly queasy? Let us know!

Previous Marmite books

Norma recently emailed us to say:

"Thank you for the Read On magazine it helps to keep us all gend up on what is happening in the book world."

"As for the book "Fifty Shades of Grey", I hadn't heard of it until my sister told me about it, but I don't think it will be my cup of tea. I like a good murder or thriller to keep me on the edge of my seat. I like Michael Connelly, John Connolly, Lee Child and many more. The Charlie Parker books by John Connolly are very gripping and keep you wondering what will happen to him next."
