Bestselling books and authors

A stack of books

With the recent run away success of Fifty Shades of Grey being hailed as the best selling book "since records began" The Bookseller, a magazine aimed at publishers, looked at the best selling books and authors. In this case "since records began" means official sales records since 1998 which currently exclude ebook sales.

The list probably won't astound you greatly. The top authors include JK Rowling some way ahead of her nearest competitor, Jamie Oliver, James Patterson, Terry Pratchett & Jacqueline Wilson.

The top 10 selling books have been The Da Vinci Code, The official highway code, all of the Harry Potters and Fifty Shades of Grey.

For the classicists among you a guestimate from the Bookseller would put Pride & Prejudice in 11th place currently filled by Dan Brown's Angels and Demons.
