Children's Book Week is from 4-10 October this year and is all about books around the world. Here are our recommendations that will give you an insight into some different cultural perspectives.

Meet... Chris Riddell

Chris Riddell is a children's book illustrator and writer. He has won the Kate Greenaway medal twice and has been shortlisted again this year for his illustrations in Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book. Chris has recently redrawn the pictures for a new edition of an old story of his called Mr Underbed.

Author profile - Siobhan Dowd

The winner of the 2009 Cilip Carnegie Medal was Siobhan Dowd for her book, Bog child. The Medal was awarded posthumously as Siobhan sadly died in Oxford on 21 August 2007, following an illness. She wrote a number of books for children including The London Eye mystery and A swift pure cry.
