Carnegie Award 2012

The CILIP and Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Children's Book Awards

Why not apply to be a Carnegie Shadower this year? The Carnegie Medal is an annual young people's book prize awarded by librarians for outstanding children's writing. The shadowing process involves reading the shortlisted titles, discussing the merits of each and in effect, judging them prior to the award ceremony in June.

Once again the Library Service will be producing the shortlist (to be announced late March) for the Carnegie Award. The books will be produced in Braille, giant print and daisy. We aim to have the titles ready to read the same day that they are publically announced. Last year we had more Carnegie Shadowers than ever before; please help us to make it even more of a success this year!

Contact the Children's Librarian now on 0161 355 2061 or childrenslibrarian@rnib.org.uk for further details.
