RNIB's Talking Books service offers over 16,000 audio books, paid for by annual subscription and delivered directly to your door.
Talking Books format
Talking Books are recorded in DAISY format, which makes them easy to navigate. Using DAISY means we can fit a whole audio book on a single CD.
Full annual subscription includes the loan of a lightweight DAISY player with accessible controls.
Choosing books
You can choose six Talking Books at a time. There are a variety of ways to choose books and you can also get support from professional librarians.
Using our
Talking Book Catalogue helps you search for any audio book currently available for loan.
Our
New Books magazine tells you all about the latest books available.
Subscription
Subscription includes all the Talking Books you read throughout the year. There are two subscription options:
-
Full loan annual subscription - this includes the loan of a Plextalk PTX1 DAISY player and costs £79
-
Books only annual subscription - this costs £50. You don't get a player with this subscription.
Gift subscriptions
For a gift that will be enjoyed throughout the year, why not buy someone a subscription to the Talking Books Service? From only £50 a year, a gift subscription includes an unlimited number of books throughout the year.
Please call RNIB Helpline on 0303 123 9999 to ask about giving a Talking Books gift subscription.

Support Talking Books
The Talking Books service is part of the RNIB National Library Service. It costs us around £6 million a year to run the service.
We ask people for a small annual subscription to join, but this doesn't cover the full amount we need to run it. RNIB subsidises this lifeline service by around £3 million a year (about £70 per person per year). This money is found by fundraising - we receive no government help.
Your
donations and support can help us keep this invaluable service going.
