We would like to apologise for the disruption to our library service caused by the current postal strike.
We know that books are very important to our readers and we don't want anyone to be without something to read. We will do all we can to minimise the effect of the strike but we do rely solely on the Royal Mail's free 'Articles for the Blind' service and, with over 47,000 readers, alternatives such as courier firms are far too expensive.
During periods of strike action, you can help keep the library service running as smoothly as possible by:
-
Returning books as soon as you have read them, rather than waiting to send a few back at the same time. This will ensure that we can send books to you straightaway as soon as strike action allows.
-
Giving us your email address. Email is a quick and inexpensive way for us to contact you about urgent and essential library matters. If you don't have email yourself, you can give us a friend or relative's email address if you prefer.
It would also be helpful if you can avoid contacting Customer Services during periods of strike action to enquire about book deliveries. Our staff are always happy to help but unfortunately they won't have detailed information about where your books are at any given time.
Finally, please note that other aspects of our library service will also be affected if the postal strikes continues. For example exchanging faulty players and delivery of
Read On and
New Books. You may like to consider receiving Read On and New Books by email or download from the website.
Thank you in advance for your patience and co-operation.
