"Great system"

Heather, a partially sighted Disabled Persons Railcard holder said:

"I have always loved train travel but the savings on the fares is such a bonus and the assisted travel - well what a great system.

"I am constantly looked after and made to feel safe. I always travel with my guide dog, Wallis, and she can stretch out and have a drink of water in comfort, whilst I can listen to my books and relax."

You can read more from other railcard holders on the 30th anniversary of the Disabled Persons Railcard.

Northern Ireland

The Disabled Persons Railcard can only be used for discounts on the National Rail network in England, Scotland and Wales. It can't be used in Northern Ireland.
You may be entitled to concessionary travel in Northern Ireland with a Smartpass. If you are registered blind and/or are over 65, you are entitled to free travel. If you are partially sighted, you're entitled to half fare travel. Find out more about the Smartpass on the NI Direct website.
