How do I apply for a Service?

Can I visit the service before I decide if it would suit my needs?

Yes, please contact us directly to arrange a suitable time.

How can I pay for day support and outreach services?

There are several funding options.
Please contact us for further information or speak with your social worker.

How and where can I obtain aids and adaptations?

Contact your local social services visual impairment team.
You can purchase aids and adaptations from:

• RNIB Scotland, Edinburgh and Lothians
• RNIB Scotland, Forth Valley Sensory Centre, Falkirk

You can also buy directly from RNIB's online shop.

Who can I speak to for advice and support if I am losing or have lost my sight?

You can speak to:

• Your local social services visual impairment team.
• Your GP or ophthalmologist .
• Local societies for the Blind - National Association of Local Societies for Visually Impaired People.
• RNIB Emotional Support Telephone service. They can be contacted via our helpline on 0845 766 9999 or by email at ess@rnib.org.uk This is a confidential telephone service.
• The Samaritans on 0845 790 9090 .
• The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy on 0870 443 5252

People with learning disabilities

Can you test the sight of a person with a learning disability and/or no obvious means of communication?

Yes, it is everyone's right to have their sight tested. We understand that this can be difficult. For further advice please contact us.
