RNIB wins award for helping people to stay in work

RNIB were recently 'highly commended' for the 'Rehabilitation Initiative of the Year' in the prestigious annual Rehabilitation First awards. This was in recognition of our service to help blind and partially sighted people stay in work.

A work-based assessment forms the cornerstone of this service. Through this assessment we identify the work-related issues that a blind or partially sighted person is facing as a result of their visual impairment. A detailed report is then produced, recommending a series of practical solutions such as:

  • access technology equipment, software, and training
  • office lighting
  • workstation ergonomics
  • signage
  • the use of human support where necessary.
