Benefits for people of working age

Find out about the benefits you may be entitled to if you are blind or partially sighted and of working age.

• Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is a disability benefit for people who claim before age 65. The Government will replace DLA with Personal Independence Payment (PIP) for people aged 16 to 64 from 2013.
• Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) is for people of working age who are unable to work because of disability or illness.
• Incapacity Benefit and Income Support were the benefits paid to people unable to work as a result of illness or disability before 27 October 2008.
• You may be entitled to Tax Credits if you are on a low income: Working Tax Credit if you work, or Child Tax Credit if you have dependent children, or both.
