Have you been cold-called and told you've won a lottery - but you must call a special number to receive the money? Or received an email inviting you to a promotional event, where you could win a fabulous prize for just £1? Then found out you have to pay a large sum - maybe several thousands of pounds - so you can collect it?
Fraudsters use all kinds of cunning tricks to prey on the unwary - don't let it happen to you. The Office of Fair Trading is running a nationwide "Scamnesty" campaign from 1-26 February. So, if you receive a suspect mailshot, do drop it off at one of the special Scamnesty bins at local libraries and public areas across the country.
