We are delighted our Mind's Eye Garden at 2014 RHS Chelsea Flower Show has won BBC/RHS People's Choice Award as well as the Gold Medal and Best Fresh Garden!

In partnership with property developers Countryside, we created the ‘Mind’s Eye Garden’ inspired by the human ability to visualise scenes and images without the need for sight. As a result, RHS Chelsea Flower Show judges awarded us a hatrick of awards, BBC/RHS People's Choice, Gold Medal and Best Fresh Garden, at the world-famous event.

'We are thrilled to have received the People's Choice Award for our garden and have been extremely touched by the lovely comments we've received,' says Karen Deacon, Director of Education and Social Care. 'We'd like to thank everyone who took the time to vote and congratulate everyone who has been involved in the development of the garden especially talented designers Tom and Alex from LDC as well as our sponsors Countryside who have made the whole project possible.'

Elements from the Mind's Eye Garden will be used in a joint scheme between Countryside and RNIB to improve the existing RNIB supported living facilities at Redhill, Surrey. This innovative programme will be the first of its kind in the UK and will provide an integrated and vibrant community. Graham Cherry, Chief Executive of Countryside commented: 'We're delighted to have received the People's Choice Awards against some very tough competition. The garden looks fantastic, it's enabled us to establish key design features for the sensory trail and gardens which are planed for the RNIB Community Living Service at Redhil. The garden is a credit to the team and I would like to congratulate everyone involved on their magnificent efforts.'

The Mind's Eye Garden concept

The Mind’s Eye Garden was the brainchild of designer Tom Prince, who makes his Chelsea debut this year. He has developed the garden in partnership with landscape architect Alex Frazier, and together with their colleagues at landscapers LDC they have worked closely with RNIB to ensure the garden reflects experiences of sight loss and can be enjoyed by everyone.
