Large print images are any style of graphic whether it is a map, chart, illustration or diagram, designed to be clear and easy to see for people who are partially sighted.
Images can add much to a document and can be beneficial in education, however their use needs to be carefully considered as low vision users may not access an image in the same way as sighted people do. CCTV or magnifiers can be used to enlarge an image, which means that the user will only be seeing a very small part of the image at a time which can make interpreting an image time consuming. However with careful planning and appropriate transcription, images can be made accessible for partially sighted people.
This section covers When to use large print images, designing large print images and describing large print images.
