In July, Insight writer Ben Rendle of Royal National College for the Blind (RNC) was one of the young people to meet the Duke of Edinburgh when he visited Hereford as part of the diamond jubilee tour of the UK.
People from across Herefordshire met to showcase the area's music, dance, food and charity work. Students Ben, Vicki Manley and Colin Smith represented RNC along with staff members. They gave a demonstration of braille, and information about courses, sport, volunteering and fundraising.
Ben says: "I will never forget the experience, especially meeting the Duke of Edinburgh himself."
Vicki added: "I was very lucky to have been to the diamond jubilee day in Hereford on 11 July. It was a real honour to meet the Duke of Edinburgh along with Eddy my guide dog. The atmosphere was amazing. I enjoyed brailling out people's names and even did one for the grand daughter of Lady Darnley of Hereford. The special day will stay in my memory forever!".
