In addition to working with children and young people, RNIB works strategically with key organisations and consortia within the special educational needs and disability and vision impairment field.

Partnership working is vital and allows us to provide a co-ordinated and holistic approach to delivering effective services and support to blind and partially sighted children and young people, their parents and the professionals who work with them on a national level.

New report on Personal Independence Payments (PIP) and Young People

The report, Disabled Young People and Personal Independence Payments, cautions that not enough consultation has been done with disabled young people to ensure that Personal Independence Payments (PIP), which will replace DLA from October 2013, meet their needs. Every Disabled Child Matters (EDCM) and RNIB are urging Government to work more closely with disabled young people and to monitor the impact PIP has on them when it is introduced.

Launch of the 2013 NatSIP Outcomes Benchmarking Exercise

The 3rd annual NatSIP Outcomes Benchmarking exercise is now underway with local authority Sensory Support Services having until the end of March 2013 to submit data from the 2011 - 2012 academic year relating to 14 performance indicators.
