Support for employers and employment professionals

In this section you will find a range of support aimed at employers and employment professionals.

We provide a number of services that can be directly commissioned by employers. If you are about to recruit a member of staff who is blind or partially sighted, or if one of your existing employees is losing their sight, please visit our employing a blind or partially sighted person section, where you will find information on our services, vocational rehabilitation, guidance on health and safety and information on running training courses for blind and partially sighted delegates.

We can also carry out work-based assessments and make recommendations on equipment, software and adjustments that will better allow your employees to do their job.

Our IT and accessibility at work section explains how you can support blind and partially sighted staff by making simple adaptations or investing in access technology.

We can also provide different types of training for blind or partially sighted employees, and their colleagues, including one to one access technology training and visual awareness training.

Welfare to work providers

We can support welfare to work providers and those whose role involve helping blind and partially sighted people into work. Visit our supporting jobseekers section for more information.

Standards and accreditation

Our standards and accreditation section brings together qualifications, guidance and standards to help employment professionals.

Access to Work

Access to Work is a scheme run by Jobcentre Plus. The scheme provides advice, grant funding, and practical support to disabled people and employers to help overcome work-related obstacles resulting from a disability. Read the information on our Access to Work section to learn more about qualifying for the scheme.
