We've teamed up with the American Foundation of the Blind to offer a free mentoring service for blind and partially sighted job seekers. Mentors are professionals who are blind or partially sighted, who have volunteered their time and expertise and are available to answer questions and provide advice about a whole range of employment issues.
Since the mentors all have some level of sight loss, they are fantastic sources of firsthand information about workplace adjustments, assistive technologies, the disclosure process, the pitfalls and triumphs associated with the social aspects of working, and any other questions your clients might have about entering the workforce or changing careers as a person with sight loss.
If you work with blind or partially sighed people, ask them to visit our Peer support and mentoring page where they can sign up to the service.
We are also encouraging successfully employed blind and partially sighted people to become mentors, so if you know of any please also pass on the link www.rnib.org.uk/employmentmentors
