Assistive technology training

About assistive technology training

Training your staff in how to make the best use of the assistive technology you have provided is a vital part of the support we provide.

Our training also ensures that colleagues of the visually impaired staff member understand the technology and how they may need to work differently.

Our technology specialists can provide one to one training for your staff using a programme that is individually tailored to meet your needs. Our training is delivered in your workplace, at a time to suit you.

Our approach

Our training is holistic and task-oriented. We don't, like some other trainers, just run through what a particular access technology product can do. Rather, we look at what you your employee needs to achieve and work with that, making assistive technology transparent. This may involve some assistive technology training as well as looking at workflow and ways of working.

Training can cover use of the following assistive technologies, and more:

  • screen readers (eg JAWS)
  • screen magnification (eg Lunar)
  • optical character recognition software
  • video magnifiers
  • reading machines
  • voice recorders
  • braille notetakers
  • voice recognition.
