Maintenance in primary care

There is no specific prescription. If a patient is not keen on surgery, he/she can get their glasses updated by the optometrist, but this can be expensive and the prescription is likely to change as the cataract progresses. Surgery is the only definitive treatment. The patient can inform you when they wish to be referred for surgery. Check their vision with the DVLA standards to check if they can drive.
