Imagine having to ask your boss to confirm how overdrawn you are. Think about giving your neighbour your PIN number, or having to sign a cheque you can't see, just to get your money out.
Many blind and partially sighted people are still having real problems with managing their money.
If you're in the financial sector or a supplier then we'd love to hear from you because we need your help to give more people personal control of their money.
We've got a
case study of how Thames Water worked with us so that all of their customers receive their bills, on the same day, in a format they can read. Why did they decide to do it? Well, it's fair, it's good business sense, and it's the law.
Can you help us?
We've always worked with financial sector companies, from major banks to ATM manufacturers to improve access to money. And the Disability Discrimination Act has been around for over 10 years now. Yet many blind and partially sighted people are still not having their needs met.
Right now, we've got a number of key projects running. We've described a couple of new ones here. But if you'd be interested in getting involved in changing the experiences of your blind and partially sighted customers, then call us on 01733 37 53 70 or email

E-Payments
We want to make it easier for people to manage their money online. Exciting projects have already been completed including one with an insurance company who reported a great improvement in sales from making their website more accessible. But more needs to be done. For example, systems set up to make online payments and banking more secure, put more barriers in the way for blind and partially sighted people. And we're continuing to receive reports of problems around Chip and PIN and ATMs.
Key partners
Although we are proud of the work we've done in the past and the real life changes it's led to, we believe that by working more closely with businesses we can acheive more.
In the next few years, we want to work with key partners in finance. We want to explore how we can work more effectively with you and what you need us to do to support the steps you are taking. And it's important for us to get a real appreciation of the services you already offer and how they are communicated to your customers.
