Techshare Mobile 2010

Techshare Mobile 2010 - Technology on the Move, sponsored by Vodafone, Research in Motion (RIM) and Intel, took place at Birmingham's ICC on Tueday 15 June alongside the UK Vision conference.

The programme included:

  • Workshops led by Vodafone UK, Robin Christopherson (AbilityNet), Greg Fields (Research in Motion (RIM)), Dolphin and RNIB.
  • Keynote presentations from Vodafone UK, Research in Motion (RIM), Nokia, International Data Corporation and the chair of RNIB.

There was also a panel discussion and an exhibition.

Presentations will shortly be available for download from this web site.

The conference was featured on Radio 4's In Touch on 22 June. The plenary sessions were broadcast live and are still available on ipadio - this was a concept test and for that reason was not announced prior to the conference.

About the event

Techshare is a series of pan-disability assistive technology events, hosted by RNIB. Techshare Mobile 2010, the latest event in the series, featured invited key speakers, including keynotes from RIM and Nokia and other workshop leaders from the world of mobile technology.

The day showcased innovations in digital technology for blind and partially sighted people and others with disabilities. There was a strong focus on hardware and software in this field including mobile phones, netbooks, tablets and portable reading devices. Of course, mobile web was also a key element.

For information about the venue, including how to get there, accommodation in Birmingham and local restaurants, see the ICC website.

Brief biographies of the keynote speakers are available.

This event would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors and partners.
