The latest event in the Techshare series took place at Birmingham's ICC on 15 June.
The day showcased innovations in digital technology for blind and partially sighted people and others with disabilities. There was a strong focus on hardware and software in this field including mobile phones, netbooks, tablets and portable reading devices. Of course, mobile web was also a key element.
The programme included:
-
Workshops led by Vodafone UK, Robin Christopherson (AbilityNet), Greg Fields (Research in Motion (RIM)), Dolphin and RNIB.
-
Keynote presentations from Vodafone UK, Research in Motion (RIM), Nokia, International Data Corporation and the chair of RNIB.
-
A panel discussion and an exhibition.
The conference was featured on Radio 4's In Touch on 22 June. The plenary sessions were broadcast live and are still available on ipadio - this was a concept test and for that reason was not announced prior to the conference.
This event would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors - Vodafone, Research in Motion (RIM) and Intel - and partners.
