Make a move in the right direction...
Blind and partially sighted people tell us they still have difficulty using our transport services.
Over the next five years, we want to work with transport providers and people with sight loss to give more people the confidence to use public transport.
Transport makes an enormous difference to our everyday lives. Everything from employment to shopping involves getting out of the home and travelling, whether it's to the end of the street or the other end of the country.
While a lot of work has been done since the introduction of the DDA in 1995, there is still more to do to make sure everyone has access to this vital public service. Work with us to help make sure your customers know what you can do for them and to find out if what else you can do to help your passengers to make journeys safely and independently.
We will also work with blind and partially sighted people to help them find out what services are available and to give them the confidence to use transport services.
Can you help us?
We're working on a number of new projects and would love to hear from you if you think you can help.
Wayfinding solutions
Our project team are pulling together information about existing innovative solutions and research, with a view to identifying future priorities. If you're involved in GPS, talking signs, or any products or research in this field then please get in touch.
Key partners
We don't have all the answers for what needs doing to make transport accessible. Our experts do know how to improve the design of our train stations, how to make RTI signs talk and produce accessible documents for you. But there is much more we'd like to know about you.
In the next few years, we want to work with key partners in travel. We want to explore what you already do and what needs to be done. Through this partnership, we'd like to be open about the barriers that you and your customers are facing to find practical solutions that will make a real difference to the lives of blind and partially sighted people.
